Taft (b. 1994) is a mixed-media artist from Minnesota with a restless path through the western United States and Central America, including two years in Argentina. Leaving the faith he was raised in unsettled everything he thought he understood about life, and that unresolved searching still runs through his work — a pull toward human vulnerability, shifting spiritualities, and life's transitions.
He works primarily in collage, building tactile compositions from found imagery — tearing, cutting, layering. The papers (and images) hold feeling: texture, wear, the residue of having existed before. He tries to excavate it, pulling that emotion loose before layering it into something new.
He also pulls from a background of graphic design, ceramics, photography, and suminagashi.
He holds a BFA in Graphic Design from Utah Valley University and served as a 2026 artist-in-residence at Casa R.A.R.O. in Barcelona, Spain.
